Tips on making a balloon car?
I’m deciding on how I will make my balloon car. We will only be given one balloon, all the same size, and we must get all of the other materials ourselves.
So far I have decided to use CDS for wheels, and skewers (if I can find any) to attach them to the base. I’m also going to attach a straw to the opening of the balloon, so that the air will not run out so fast.
What I am wondering about, is what should I use for my base? I know it should be lightweight, so I was thinking of cardboard. Do you think this is a good idea?
Also, how would I attach the skewers to the CD-wheels, since the holes are so much bigger than the skewers?
Besides my specific questions, if you had any extra tips or suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for answering.
make the frame out of skewers if you want to make it light, skewers are quite strong. You should glue a whole bunch of them together with a hot glue gun for the frame. You don’t necessarily have to make the wheels out of cds right? You could use ping pong balls or just simply cut them out of card board and glue them to the axles and have the axles rotate rather than the wheels.. thats how I would do it anyway.
Personally I would probably sticks small pieces of ice cream sticks onto a skewer so it is like a wind mill and when the air from the balloon blows on it, it rotates…..
